Ayodhya
Capital of the Ikshvaku kings and birthplace of Rama in the Ramayana. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple was consecrated on 22 January 2024.

Valmiki describes Ayodhya on the Sarayu as the capital of Kosala, founded by Manu. It is the first of the seven sacred cities (Sapta Puri) that grant liberation.

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir was consecrated on 22 January 2024. Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan and the Sarayu ghats are major places of worship; Deepotsav lights the ghats at Deepavali.
