Sri Krishna
Born in a prison, raised among cowherds, slayer of tyrants, king of Dwarka, friend and guide of the Pandavas, teacher of the Gita — Krishna's journey from Mathura to Prabhasa, station by station.
The verse
The eighth child
[Traditional account]
A voice from the sky told the tyrant Kamsa that the eighth child of his sister Devaki would kill him. He imprisoned Devaki and Vasudeva and killed their children one by one — until the eighth was born at midnight on Bhadrapada Krishna Ashtami.
