About Antyeshti (Last Rites)
What is Antyeshti (Last Rites)?
Antyeshti (Antim Sanskar) is the final samskara — the funeral rites performed by the son or nearest relative at home and at the cremation ground, with the pandit guiding every step.
The rites prepare the body, offer the first pindas and commit it to Agni with mantras, followed by the collection of ashes (asthi sanchayanam) and their immersion in a holy river.
