Ceremonies for your baby

Most families choose the name at the Namakaranam, on the 11th or 12th day after birth. A verified pandit can do it at home or on live video.

Questions devotees ask us

How do I find the right first letter for my baby?

Tradition takes it from the birth nakshatra and its pada. Enter the date, time and place of birth in our nakshatra tool, and it gives you the letter.

Is it necessary to use the nakshatra letter?

No. Many families keep the nakshatra name for rituals and use a different everyday name. Follow your family’s custom.

When is the naming ceremony done?

Usually on the 11th or 12th day after birth, though it can be held later on a good day. Your pandit will suggest a muhurat.
