Pujas for a home of your own

Bhoomi Pooja

Bhoomi Pooja (Sankusthapana) is performed on a plot before construction begins, to worship Bhoomi Devi (Mother Earth) and the Vastu Purusha, seek permission to dig, and lay the foundation stone at an auspicious muhurtham.

  • Seeks the blessings of Bhoomi Devi before construction
  • Removes obstacles and delays in building work
  • Protects workers and the site during construction

Vastu Shanti Pooja

Vastu Shanti Pooja pacifies the Vastu Purusha and the deities of the eight directions (ashta dikpalakas) who govern a building. It is done before living in a new or renovated home or office, and when vastu defects cannot be corrected structurally.

  • Pacifies vastu doshas in a home, shop or office
  • Purifies a building after construction or renovation
  • Brings harmony, health and prosperity to those who live there

Lakshmi Pooja

Lakshmi Pooja is the worship of Goddess Mahalakshmi, giver of wealth, prosperity and good fortune. It is performed on Diwali, on Fridays, for new businesses and homes, and whenever a family seeks stability in finances.

  • Prosperity and financial stability for the family
  • Blessings for a new business, shop or office
  • Relief from debts and money-related worries

Griha Pravesh Pooja

Griha Pravesh (Gruhapravesam) is the ceremony of entering a new home for the first time at an auspicious muhurtham. It usually combines Ganapati pooja, punyahavachanam, Vastu Shanti, Navagraha pooja or homam and, in many families, a Satyanarayana Vratham.

  • Purifies a new or renovated house before the family lives in it
  • Pacifies vastu doshas and the nine planets
  • Invites prosperity, health and peace into the home
