What is Janma Nakshatra Shanti?
Janma Nakshatra Shanti is a puja for the person’s birth star (janma nakshatra) — worshipping its presiding deity and the ruling planet — done on the birthday by nakshatra, when the star is under affliction in the horoscope, or when a jyotishi advises it.
Each of the 27 nakshatras has a presiding deity (Ashwini — the Ashwini Kumaras, Rohini — Brahma, Pushya — Brihaspati and so on) and a ruling planet. Worshipping them on the birth star is believed to strengthen the person’s fortune and ease difficult periods.
