What is Vishwakarma Puja?
Vishwakarma Puja honours Lord Vishwakarma, the divine architect and craftsman, by worshipping tools, machines, vehicles and workplaces — done in factories, workshops, offices and shops on Vishwakarma Jayanti (Kanya Sankranti, usually 17 September) and when new machinery is installed.
Vishwakarma is the architect of the gods — builder of Dwaraka, Indraprastha and Lanka, and maker of their weapons. Workers and business owners worship him for skill, safety at work and the smooth running of machines.
