How a naming ceremony muhurat is chosen
- Traditionally on the 11th, 12th or 16th day after birth; when that day is missed, on one of the dates below.
- Nakshatra: Ashwini, Rohini, Mrigashira, Punarvasu, Pushya, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Anuradha, Shravana, Dhanishta, Shatabhisha, Revati or one of the three Uttaras.
- Tithi: a shubha tithi — the rikta tithis, Ashtami, Amavasya and the late waning moon are avoided.
- Weekday: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Not in Pitru Paksha.

Book a pandit for naming ceremony in December 2026
Pick a date and Stuti Mandir books a verified pandit for it, at home anywhere we serve in India. The namakaranam starts from ₹3,100; the full dakshina is shown before you pay online. For the exact lagna for your family, book a 20-minute namakarana — baby name letters call for ₹601.
How these dates are worked out
- Every date is worked out from the panchang with the same astronomy as the Stuti Mandir Panchang: tithi from the Moon–Sun angle, nakshatra and yoga from their sidereal (Lahiri) longitudes, and the weekday from sunrise.
- A window opens only while the ceremony’s nakshatra, tithi and weekday are all favourable together, and closes at the first change that breaks one of them. Vishti (Bhadra) karana, the Vyatipata and Vaidhriti yogas and nakshatra gandanta are always left out.
- Times are IST. Tithi and nakshatra change at the same moment everywhere in India, so the windows hold nationwide; the weekday is taken from sunrise at Bengaluru, which can move the edge of a window that starts before dawn by a few minutes in your city.
- These are general (panchang shuddhi) dates. The pandit then checks the family’s tarabala and chandrabala and fixes the lagna inside the window — which is why the same date can suit one family better than another.

Which is the best naming ceremony date in December 2026?

Are these times valid in my city?
Yes, anywhere in India: tithi and nakshatra change at the same instant everywhere, and times are in IST. Only a window that starts before sunrise can shift by a few minutes, because the weekday is taken from sunrise (at Bengaluru).
