About Lakshmi Pooja
About this puja
Lakshmi Pooja is the worship of Goddess Mahalakshmi, giver of wealth, prosperity and good fortune. It is performed on Diwali, on Fridays, for new businesses and homes, and whenever a family seeks stability in finances.
Lakshmi is invoked into a kalasham or idol and worshipped with the Sri Suktam and her 108 names, with lotus flowers, kumkum and sweets. At Diwali she is worshipped with Ganesha in the evening (pradosha kalam), and businesses place account books and cash boxes before her.
